It Doesn’t Matter What Others Think of You

You’re on your own path. What others think of you shouldn’t matter. Forget the haters. They aren’t the ones who have to wake up in your body every day.

They aren’t the ones who are going to look at you in the mirror everyday. And they don’t have to answer to your thoughts when they antagonize you about the decisions you made. Forget about them because it doesn’t matter what others think of you.

Why Shouldn’t You Care About What Others Think?

People are shallow. Opinions will change with the pattern of the wind. You may say, “Shika, this is a middle school topic.” But, some of you still need to be reminded. Because now its not just what you’re wearing that is the topic of the conversation.

No, now its what you’re going to do with your life. When are they getting married? When are they getting a job? When are they going to forget their dream of becoming an inventor of something grand?

The gossip and the opinions are still running rampant. So, I thought I’d remind you that you shouldn’t care what others think. Your version of success is not less than any other person’s version of success. Just like your version of success is not any better. What works for everyone will be different.

People are going to try and stick you into different molds. These molds are going to be the molds that they always wanted for themselves or what they fit into themselves. But that doesn’t mean that mold is also for you. It’s okay the break the mold and create something new.

You’re unique. Show it. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. It doesn’t matter what others think of you. As long as you can face yourself with a good conscious, that should be enough.

Your fulfillment will not come from doing or being what makes other people happy. So, do me a favor and block out the noise. Silence the other opinions. Stop comparing yourself and live for you.

There will always be people with opinions.

Even if you decided to follow everyone’s opinion, you’d still get something wrong. Somewhere out there someone would be judging you for your choice. So, just do what makes you happy.

Your self-worth is more than your accomplishments.

You are worthy and valuable no matter what you do and don’t do. Having zero accolades doesn’t not make your life any less valuable than someone with a million accolades and acronyms behind their name. That person you see with a million accolades may not even be happy. People cannot add or subtract from your self-worth with their opinions.

Conclusion

Just some thoughts. There are many different paths to a successful future. Don’t let what others think drive you in a different direction than you were meant to go. You know yourself. And you know what’s best for yourself. That’s all that matters. Know yourself and what others think of you shouldn’t matter.

  1. It’s right that you can’t please all the people around you but can you happily survive when no one is really happy with you? Can we ever attain such a level of solitude?
