The Only Thing You Need to Know About Courage

I’m posting late today but I made it. Today’s topic is about courage. I’ve been waiting to write about this for a while since I read a post on courage a couple of months back. I should have saved the link to the post. But I didn’t think It was going to take me this long to finally get to writing this post. But now I know for next time.

Anyways, on to the scheduled programming, courage.

What is Courage?

Many people believe that courage means being fearless. But, if you didn’t have fear, it could not be courage. Because you only need the courage to do the things you fear. With that being said I’m going to define courage as the ability to overcome your fears. It is the ability to confront uncertainty willingly.

I’ve talked about being courageous before. I didn’t call it being courageous. I called it conquering your fear of failure. Conquering your fear of failure is part of being courageous.

Contrary to what you think, being courageous does not need to mean scaling a tower to rescue a baby or some other crazy exaggerated heroic effort. Being courageous can be as simple as asking for help when you need it.

You see having courage does not have to be some great heroic effort. It can be simple. It can be personal. Everyone has different fears so what may require courage for you may be different for others.

As long as you are persevering against some type of challenge, you are being courageous.

Why Should You Be Courageous?

Improve Your Quality of Life

You’ve been living in fear too long! Improve your quality of life! Get the courage to go after your dreams! Get that dream job that you’ve always wanted.

You never know what will happen if you just apply. It may be the best decision that you’ve ever made. New job, new pay, new people! What do you have to lose?

The worst that can happen is that you stay in the same spot. The best thing that can happen is that you get your dream job and better pay. You might even be able to afford to get that apartment you wanted and have money left over to eat.

Living in Fear Causes Damage

You, living in fear for so long, has caused so much damage. You’re stuck playing it safe. You’re stuck being complacent.

You’re afraid to ask for help and now you’re overwhelmed. You got too much on your plate and its creeping into your personal life. You are reaching that burn-out stage. You can tell because you’re starting to get to that phase where you don’t care about anything anymore.

How to Start Being Courageous?

Stop Thinking So Much

Just do it! Bite the bullet and go for it! Why do you need courage? What will the courage help you gain? A new job? More time and less stress? Healthy boundaries?

Think of all the benefits courage can bring you. Think of your quality of life slowly improving. You can be your own superhero by simply making small courageous efforts. Start by asking for help when you feel overwhelmed. Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re weak so there’s no need to be afraid.

Put yourself out there. Apply for that job even if you’re scared. The fear just means that you really care about what you’re applying for. Your courage may pay off. And it doesn’t hurt to prepare either. Preparing for something that you are scared of can help resolve some of your fears.

Concluding Words

Well, that’s all I have to say for today! The post was a little later than usual but it made it! Remember to be courageous! All it takes is small efforts to willingly face your fears to be courageous! Who knows where that new-found courage will get you! Little steps can make a huge difference.
