Its All In Your Head from lovethispic.com
If you’re like me, you pretty much live in your thoughts. Constantly thinking. It doesn’t matter how simple the question is, you’ll think about it.
And while thinking is great for analyzing papers and self-awareness, there comes a point where living in your head can be detrimental towards your progression in life. I’m writing this post to you, but I’m also really talking to myself. We have fears to conquer.
The reason you fear failure is because you thought about your decisions too long. Sometimes, you just have to do it. Nike was on to something when they created their slogan.
Maybe the original founder was afraid to create a sneaker brand because there were already so many sneaker brands out there. Don’t quote me on this. I don’t actually know how, who, or when Nike started. But maybe when he feared starting the most, he was told to just do it.
Look where Nike is today. If you would just get out of your head! Imagine what you could really do.
I’m not saying that thinking is a bad thing. You just need to find a happy medium between over-analyzing and impulsivity. That should be easy, right?
Like many of my other posts, it’s easier said than done. But, for those of you that don’t back down from a challenge, here are ways to stop second-guessing yourself. The first one seems kind of counterintuitive, but guess where we’re going?
To your head! Yes! Straight to the point of concern. You should be prepared to battle with your thoughts.
Do not avoid your thoughts and emotions.

You are putting a tiny flu-shot Band-Aid on a knife-stab wound. Don’t hide your feelings or your doubts. Bring them out to the open and talk about them.
It is only then that you can come to terms with your doubts and fears. You can also talk about them with someone you trust and know will support you.
Focus on what you are doing does for other people.

If you want to start a business and you have doubts, think about what that business will do for others. Stop thinking about yourself. How will your services help other people?
That will motivate you to actually get to work instead of thinking of you, you, you and what others will think about you when you start this business.
Sometimes, I second guess my blog post topics but, then realize that the posts are there to help someone to achieve their goals. Then, it’s reinforced by the positive feedback that I get from you all, my readers. I realize that I just enjoy being able to help someone, and me and the doubts in my head do not matter because someone out there will find my posts useful.
Stop living in a different time!

Stop living in the past and stop worrying about the future! You lose time in the present with your mind on everything but now. The past is the past and it cannot be changed. Use it as a lesson learned and be grateful that you can learn from your past.
The future is important but, there is only so much you can do to prepare for it. Enjoy now and you will enjoy the future. I’m not saying stop making goals.
I’m just saying, stop worrying about things that cannot be controlled in the future. Prepare for the future. But because we cannot know the exact nature of our future, there is no use to worry about every little detail.
Saving $1000 versus $1050. Will that $50 make a difference in the future? Maybe, maybe not but, do you need more premature gray hairs over something so silly? No. Your only responsibility is to handle the present moment.
Last, but not least, stop judging your thoughts.

This is the hardest one of all. Your thoughts do not define you. Be easier on yourself.
We all have random thoughts that we would dare not act on. Sometimes, I want to punch some of my group project members in the throat. Does that make me a violent abusive person? No. I also don’t act on the urge.
Realize that your thoughts do not make you. Your actions do. Go against your thought to second-guess your skill! Go for that internship position! Act confident and make confident choices.
Believe in yourself! Start that blog page! You can do what you will yourself to do!
If that’s too big, start with smaller decisions like being confident in your answer choice on that exam, or even in the shoes you decided to wear today. Be the one to say hello first and start the conversation! Get out of your head and into your life!
